Ad Crucem Icon - The Annunciation to St Mary Rectangular

$ 54.00

 The Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced the most wonderful news: the Messiah, who was promised throughout the sacred scriptures, and as early as in the third chapter of Genesis, would be born of her! The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary, and she conceived the Christ Child. See Luke 1:26-56. We celebrate this event on March 25th each year.

Ad Crucem's icon depicting the Annunciation shows Mary busy reading a scroll declaring the promise of the Righteous Branch (Nazarene means Branch in Hebrew, see Jeremiah 23:5, Jeremiah 33:15, Zechariah 3:5, Zechariah 6:12). Gabriel is holding the Lily (Song of Solomon 2:1), representative of the Christ Child. In the background we see the stump and shoot of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1), and in the foreground the Holy Spirit is represented as a Dove (Matt 3), with a halo of flames (Acts @). In His mouth is the scarlet thread (Genesis 38:28, Joshua 2:1, Leviticus 14:4), symbolic of the bloodline from Adam, through Abraham, and King David (Luke 3:23-38).

Ad Crucem icons are unique because we print them directly onto our wooden plaques. Our competitors' icons are printed on paper and stuck onto wood. The finish of an Ad Crucem icon is far superior, and not prone to fraying.
