Kelly's “Memento mori” prayer chaplet
This product is unavailable
A “memento mori” is a remembrance of mortality and death. The practice of using symbols and images for this contemplation, such as a skull, is an ancient and widespread Christian practice. This unique chaplet is made with a light wood crucifix, a series of skull-shaped resin beads, and a double-sided pendant. The pendant has a crucifix surrounded by lilies on one side, and Jesus’ body with His mother Mary on the other. We remember in these images the death of our Lord and our own future deaths, with the hope of the resurrection to come. The 6 main beads can be used for meditation on the 6 chief parts of the Catechism, if desired. The seventh bead is slightly larger, and can be part of a concluding prayer. In the Lutheran tradition, prayer beads are not used to invoke saints; some choose to use them to keep track of a certain personal pattern of devotion. Prayer beads can have any prayers or Bible verses assigned that you choose.
