The upper text is German for "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," while the German text at the bottom is the second verse of the hymn which begins, "With might of ours can naught be done..." Images of Wartburg Castle and Luther dressed as a knight contrast with these words, and show that earthly might -- whether real or contrived -- cannot supplement or replace the might of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
